In 2002, Preferred Pals Stable’s second lifetime claim, Private Lap (Private Terms – Just Like Jill by Dynaformer) was our first stakes winner, winning the Quick Card Stakes at Delaware Park. Private Lap won 5 of 10 starts for Preferred Pals Stable. Private Lap went on to win 6 more stakes after we privately sold him and is currently standing at stud at John Schaub’s Atlanta Acres in Indiana.

In 2003, Preferred Pals Stable’s Dashboard Drummer (Alamocitos – Groovin Moment) won the Grade III Sapling Stakes at Monmouth Park and finished 3rd in the Grade I Champagne Stakes. Dashboard Drummer finished 3rd in the Grade II Swale Stakes and went on to finish 2nd in the Sir Barton Stakes (now the Barbaro Stakes) on Preakness Day in 2004. Dashboard Drummer was always a great competitor, winning on both dirt and turf. |

One of Preferred Pals Stable’s 2004 claims, My Snookie’s Boy (Crafty Friend – Congratulations) went on to finish 2nd to Lionheart in both the Grade III Long Branch Breeder’s Cup and the Grade I, $1,000,000 Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park. One of the most exciting moments in Preferred Pals Stable’s history was the stretch drive in the Haskell, where for an instant, we thought we might win a Grade 1 stakes, but lost to Lionheart by a length.

Preferred Pals Stable’s private New York bred purchase, Sort It Out (Out of Place – Vex by Kris S) finished 2nd in the 2 year old Damon Runyon Stakes. He went on to win the 2005 Whirlaway Stakes at Aqueduct, missing the stakes record by 1/5 of a second. By finishing 3rd in the WinStar Derby and 2nd in the Grade II Coolmore Lexington Stakes, he punched his ticket to the Kentucky Derby. What a thrill it was having a Preferred Pals Stable horse in the 2005 Kentucky Derby. Currently, Sort It Out is standing at stud at Fox Tale Stud in Pennsylvania for Stonerside Stable.
