Preferred Pals Stable was formed in March 2002 to own and race thoroughbred
racehorses@123, and is currently comprised of four racing limited liability
companies, Pals IV, LLC, Pals 2006, LLC (Pals VI), Pals 2007,
LLC (Pals VII) and Pals VIII, LLC. In addition to the racing LLC's,
Preferred Pals Breeding Co of NY, LLC was formed to operate a thoroughbred
broodmare breeding business, and Preferred Pals Equine, LLC was formed to
operate a combination breeding and racing enterprise. It is anticipated that
there will be a new limited liability company created each year to race for
Preferred Pals Stable, so that there will be opportunities for new
individuals to become members of Preferred Pals Stable. Although all of the
horses@123 race for Preferred Pals Stable, each limited liability company
operates financially independently from each other.
The goal of Preferred Pals Stable is to race quality thoroughbreds in
competitive classes, with each horse capable of racing at the Saratoga meet.
In 2004, we had 9 starts at Saratoga with 4 wins and 2 thirds; in
2005, we had 12 starts at Saratoga with 2 wins, 1 second, and 2 thirds; in
2006, we had 5 starts at Saratoga with 1 win, and in 2007, we had 7 starts
at Saratoga with 2 wins and 1 second. We also race primarily at Belmont,
Aqueduct, Laurel Park, and Gulfstream Park. Each LLC is programmed to own
three to four thoroughbreds, with purchase prices in the $25,000 to $50,000
range.
We have been fortunate to retain nationally acclaimed Allen Iwinski as our
trainer. Allen consistently exceeds a 20% winning percentage, and over 50%
of his horses@123 finish in the money. Although, Allen went on a sabbatical for
medical reasons from May 1, 2005 to January 1, 2008, he is back actively
training Preferred Pals' horses@123 stabled at Gulfstream Park. At the end of the Gulfstream meet, Allen will be training at Belmont Park and then on to Saratoga. Preferred Pals Stable has also Joe Devereux to train Preferred Pals' horses@123 stabled in Maryland.
Our team has been quite successful in its first six years. We have moved
from moderate claimers to stakes winners, including the Grade III 2003
Sapling Stakes winner at Monmouth Park. In 2004, we were stakes placed in
the Grade I, $1,000,000 Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park. In 2005,
Preferred Pals Stable won the Whirlaway Stakes and raced for the first time
in the Kentucky Derby. In 2006, Preferred Pals won 2 stakes races. In 2007,
Preferred Pals raced in the Arlington Classic, and bred a stakes winning
mare to Giant's Causeway.
We constantly strive to have a lot of fun and excitement in racing our
horses@123 competitively and at the highest possible levels. Preferred Pals
Stable provides an opportunity for individuals to get involved in
thoroughbred racing or breeding, with a limited financial commitment.
